To challenge our expectations of what is, what could or what should be is one of the great tasks of being an artist.

I love sitting on hills or mountains over looking the ocean while breathing in the slow changes in air, moisture, light and wind.
Often I see coastal clouds form into something that looks like it could have a story to tell, yet before it's uttered it blows away into a memory of untold potential.
In this piece I imagined a family of translucent moisture beings that spend 99% of their lives floating on the wind, travelling on the jet-streams searching for food at a global scale, however when the conditions are perfect, they can temporarily settle on the ocean mist and produce their offspring...sometimes this only happens once in millennia.
This image attempts to capture that rare moment of the "Translucents' dusk spawning"

personal notes from Arvus Attamesa
About a year ago I wondered what it would look like if two unrelated beings from different dimensions crossed paths in an interdimensional-neutral-zone.
I named these two beings as fellow "dimensionauts".
I wanted to portray a simple "hey!"; an acknowledgement, a seeing of each other and so I felt no other context was needed, except a hint in the background that this was some type of 'deep space'.
This piece has gone through so many iterations of design, style and structure to get to the image you see here. I explored facial expressions but ultimately found this unnecessary as the simple wave was all that I felt was needed to
illustrate a fleeting connection.
The being on the right is designed as if in a type of suit or travel shield, but the being on the left is in its natural state.
So much time went into the details of each being, so this piece looks best when printed large, say 12 feet (2m) wide.
I really love living with this piece,
It has an 'all life is seeking connection' feel to it, it's like a dance with the beautiful music of acknowledgement,
I often try to imagine where they have each come from and where or when they are going to...

With the ever increasing odds that there are in fact distant planets with oceans of water, I felt I wanted to create an image expressing the otherworldly explosive-evolution of alien aquatic life.
Nanonautica is a hypothetical vision of combined time-lapsed images of life in three stages as defined by three rings of energy.
A. Conception - with central motif paying the homage to the yin/yang - female/male elements of life.
B. Embryos, Zygotes and simple lifeforms
C. More advanced lifeforms
I explored adding many more beings but found the image became cluttered, so in the final phase of completing this piece I was actually removing content not adding it.
Finally, this piece is massive at 50,000 pixels across! The full resolution jpeg is over 250MB. It is an extremely detailed image and could be printed to over 10metres wide.
Below are five close-up pics to show the amount of detail into each of the organisms.
